New openEyA v5.1.0 showing Slides during recordings

openEyA v5.1.0 (Alopix) for Ubuntu 10.10 - is now available for free download!

This new version openEyA-webcam 5.1.0 (Alopix)

  • Shows Slides during recordings;
  • Allows zoom in the Preview Photo;
  • Fixes minor bug in the Alarms.

You can now synchronize audio-video with zoomable images/slides taken from screen captures or using any webcam (including High Definition HD-Webcams of 2, 8 or Mpx!)

2011 openEyA International e-Learning Grant

International 2011 e-Learning Grant using “openEyA: Automated Lecture Capture System”

The Science Dissemination Unit (SDU) of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy, is also offering in 2011 an academic webcasting grant to have an “off-the-shelf” solution for on-line Learning. The aim is to help non-profit institutions from countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA to implement the automated production of digital scientific content (via, e.g., webinars) and e-Learning and Distance Education (via, e.g., webcasting of lectures).

This year SDU grant provides all USB essentials for implementing a set of the openEyA automated recording system (worth about 200 Euros in hardware each), including USB High-Definition Webcams and omni-directional microphones.

The 2011 openEyA Grant will be awarded to up to four different eligible organizations based in a developing country, and aiming to contribute more efficiently to capacity building and scientific development.

  • A snapshot (screen grab or photo JPG) of a PC screen (e.g., any “32 Bit” Desktop, Laptop, Netbook) with Linux Ubuntu 10.10 installed and showing that the latest openEyA software is also already installed!

About openEyA:
openEyA allows to archive (in Flash format) and share (via web, zip) traditional scientific lectures and talks carried out using, for example, chalkboards in classrooms and/or using modern presentations (PPT, PDF, animations, etc). All of this is done using low-cost hardware and with just one click!
